What these numbers measure

Open interest is the total value of open perpetual positions, counted once per position (every long has a matching short). It is summed across Hyperliquid’s own markets and every builder-deployed HIP-3 DEX. 24h volume is the notional value traded in the last day. Together they show how much capital sits on the exchange and how actively it turns over.

Longs paying is the share of Hyperliquid’s main markets where funding is positive, a quick read of crowd positioning. When most markets pay positive funding, longs are crowded and paying for it; a swing toward negative funding usually follows sharp sell-offs.

The HYPE, staking and HLP figures come from the dedicated pages linked above, each of which explains its own method. All of it is read live from Hyperliquid’s public API on every visit; nothing is estimated or copied from third-party trackers.
